Rope hats have a rich history dating back to the early twentieth century with their nautical look being popular with beachgoers, sailors and fishermen. Vintage rope hats did not always have the structure they are associated with today, being designed as simple sun visors at first. With this structure came versatility and the ability to be used during various activities. Eventually, rope hats slowly began making their way on to golf courses, adopted by golfers for their clean, neat look. Athletes from other sports like baseball followed suit, and not long after, companies and brands began using the rope hat for promotional and outdoor wear, with the addition of logos and other emblems.
