When Should You Order Custom Ornaments?
As the holidays creep ever closer, we all try to prepare the seasonal-specific gear we need to make it through. But just like any last-minute buyer, you don’t want to be caught as a last-minute seller! The holidays are integral to small businesses and big retailers alike. So how do you guarantee you aren’t caught being naughty and forgetting to purchase custom ornaments?
What You Should Know Before Purchasing Custom Ornaments
Do You Have a Design?
We can expedite getting a production-ready art proof completed if you already have an approved ornament design from your team. The longer we have to go back and forth on approving a design, the longer it will take to begin the production process of your order. It’s even better if your design is already vectorized, or created in a program like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. You can take a look at what ornaments we have to offer on our ornaments page to help you narrow down your design.
How Many Ornaments Do You Need?
Not everyone needs a high number of custom ornaments. Maybe you’re just planning to get a few to gift to family members or friends. To make sure that you don’t over purchase, make sure to check if the company you’re purchasing the ornaments from has a minimum order quantity (or MOQ for short). Our MOQ at Monterey Company is 50 for custom ornaments, so if you need more than that we got you covered!
Are you Planning to Resell these Ornaments?
Preparing for the season means having the shelves fully stocked as soon as the first mistletoe is seen. That deadline looms closer every year, so you want to ensure your ornaments will be ready to hit the shelves.
Where are You Shipping the Ornaments to?
Always remember that the weather isn’t guaranteed, especially as the chaos of the winter months just begins. While production takes about two to three weeks, there is additional shipping time that you need to consider.

If You’re Reselling Custom Ornaments
Small businesses and individuals need to be prepared for the thawing of Mariah Carey, which seems to begin sooner and sooner. From what we’ve seen, ordering at the end of September or beginning of October is ideal. It gives you time to adjust your ornament design and still have them arrive in time for holiday sales to begin.
If You’re Giving Ornaments Away as Gifts
You’ll have a lot more wiggle room for ordering ornaments if you’re planning to gift them, but we still recommend ordering them in early November. The holiday season can seriously affect shipping times since everyone is trying to get their gifts to arrive on time. To avoid any potential weather or overhaul of orders, try to get your order in before mid-November.
