Essential Guide: What to Know Before Ordering Custom Mugs
We all have our favorite activities when the weather finally starts to cool. No matter what throughout the colder days you do, most of us end up curled up on the couch or in bed with our favorite media and favorite mug.
What Style Mug Should You Choose?
Whenever you decide to pull out the blanket and snacks, you want to make sure that you make the right choice for your custom mug. Not every mug is made the same way.
Size of the Mug
Mugs are created in all kinds of different shapes and sizes. You have to determine what you want to get out of your mug. Taller mugs keep liquids hotter for longer, but won’t work if you use your mugs for soups! Spoons get difficult if you can’t scoop properly. So if you’re a soup gremlin over the fall and winter seasons, you could get a wider-mouthed mug instead.
Dishwasher Friendly
Not everyone likes to have to hand wash their dishes. That is to say, almost no one even has time to handwash save for a lucky few. So for those of us who throw everything in the dishwasher, we need to double check our mugs! Not all mugs are built dishwasher friendly, so you’ll need to double-check if your custom mugs are able to withstand the heat.
Microwave Friendly
Just as we don’t have time to wash the dishes, we don’t always have time to properly heat up soup or water on the stove. Or if you’re like me, you have seen enough of those mug cakes online that you’re dying to try them at least once. In order to make sure you keep yourself safe, always check that the custom mugs you’re ordering are microwave-safe.
Customization Options
Certain kinds of customization will not be possible depending on the type of mug too! Ceramic can come in porous or non-porous methods, and some mugs are even made from scratch. And each of those Make sure to double-check your mug style before purchasing it so that you can get the customization that you want to use.
What About the Design On the Mug?
Color or No Color?
A pop of color can add a fun extra flare to your custom mug design. We use Pantone colors to create the production-ready design that will be printed onto the mug for you.
Engraving Your Mug
The more color you put into a design, the more difficult it will be to transfer onto a mug depending on the design. Sometimes simpler can be better, especially if you plan to engrave it onto your custom mug. Engraving creates a really unique textured finish on your mug. More often than not, engraved mugs are more difficult to wash since they’re made of a porous ceramic base. This means that they’re easier to engrave but easier to break if not taken care of properly.
