How Transparent and Glitter Enamel Can Level Up Your Custom Lapel Pins
Why Get Enamel Pins?
Lapel pins are one of the easiest ways to get a message across, no matter what the message is. But just to name a few:
- Do you want to promote a media you’re excited about?
- Do you want to recognize employees for their years of service to your small business?
- Is there an event that you want to celebrate and spread the word about?
One of the best ways that we can bring our pins to a new level is by adding glitter or transparent enamel!
Is There a Difference Between Enamel Pins and Lapel Pins?
The only real difference between these two styles of custom pins is one has color while the other doesn’t. “Enamel” just refers to the dyed material poured into the divots created on a lapel pin. These divots work like bowls to hold the enamel, then the pin is baked so the enamel hardens into the pin!
What is Transparent Enamel
Transparent enamel is not entirely “transparent”, but more translucent. Think about how stained glass looks in a cathedral. The light comes through but gives a tint of color to it. Same for transparent enamel! The enamel slightly shows the plating underneath the enamel color.
Transparent enamel works great for designs where you want a lot of texture without having to add too many colors. Any designs in particular with wings or scales on them can become more lifelike by using transparent enamel.
What is Glitter Enamel
Glitter enamel, as the name suggests, has glitter that’s worked into the material. Different types of glitter enamel will have glitter of varied quantities and sizes. We use glitter enamel that has as similar inconsistencies as possible so if you use more than one, you can keep your lapel pins cohesive.
These pins have much more fun, silly styles compared to designs using standard opaque enamel. It doesn’t mean you can’t use glitter for a unique enamel pin, but more often you’ll see cutesy funny pins using glitter. A lot of designs with crowns or jewels also use glitter enamel instead to save money while also appearing to have gems embedded in the lapel pin.
What Other Additions Can I Put on My Lapel Pin?
Enamel color isn’t the only way to level up your designs on your lapel pins. We’ve added several options that you can use to create even more original pieces, including:
- Gemstones
- Pearls
- Velvet boxes
If you’re curious about any of these extras, we created a video about different additions you can add. You can take a look at how each of these different additions can flavor your design even more. Once you have your choice on any additional items you want, definitely reach out to us and we’ll walk you through all of the options.
