We love when a client comes in with a clear cut idea of what they want. It makes our process of providing them the quote and art proofs much easier! In this case, the client knew exactly what kind of look they were going for on their custom emblem. They told us which elements were most important to them and trusted us to make a product that kept the integrity of their original design.

Design Highlights

From the jump, our client already had an amazing concept. They wanted to create a custom emblem that had a bear claw standing out against a textured background surrounded by a raised border with faux rivets.

Clean Finished Concept

We can see that the design has clear cut differences between the claw and the background. Not only that, but the entirety of the design is symmetrical, and makes the emblem concept look extremely clean. The final detail that makes this emblem look amazing are those raised rivets that give the border a pipe like look.

Color And Texture

There is no additional color on the design, so we knew from the jump that plating choice was going to be an essential part of this emblem. The second most important part of the design was the choice the client had made to indicate different textures on the emblem. Fortunately the client left it more as a concept rather than an exact replication, so we could adjust the texture enough to make it production possible.

What We Decided

3D Finish

Because the client really wanted to maintain the textured background behind the paw and make the additional mimicked nails on the emblem, we went with a 3D mold for the emblem design. This would make sure that the emblem had its raised finish in the final look.

Antique Bronze Plating

The client wanted to make sure that the emblem looked worn and weathered, but not too warm in color. Because of this input, we went with an antique bronze plating. Antique platings really help highlight the 3D texture of an emblem as well as bring out the design when there isn’t any enamel color added onto the finish. Because of the original concept, we knew going with bronze would give it a brighter finish without being too warm like gold would do.

The Proof

Because the client came to us with a clear idea already in mind as well as a simple shape for their emblem, it didn’t take very long for us to provide them with a production ready art proof of their design. Because it was a 3D design, we provided a mockup of the design that included the different levels of which the mold was going to be produced. The warmer the tone of the proof, the higher that level of the metal would be. This allowed us to reproduce that awesome texture that was just what the client wanted.

The Final Result!

Take a look at that detail! By giving it the extra texture, it really makes the bear claw pop on the emblem. Plus the 3D mold gives the claws that extra pop. Such an amazing idea came to life, and we’re so happy our client trusted us to make it happen!
