The longevity of real leather patches depends on their usage. But comfortably, at least five to seven years. Most of the time, real leather will even outlast the workwear or hats to which they are applied. Compared to faux leather or custom embroidered patches, genuine leather is superior in the test of time. If you are looking for the longest-lasting patch, we suggest rubber patches.
Can you wash genuine leather patches in the washing machine?
No, you should never machine wash genuine leather products. Exposure to that much moisture can cause warping and cracking, plus the chemicals in detergents can discolor the natural beauty and uniqueness of the leather. Dry-cleaning is suggested for genuine leather patches.
Can you iron on or heat-press genuine leather patches?
Yes, but this is a tricky process. We suggest using a heat press with backheat. High heat on the front of the patch can cause the leather to burn. Leather patches are pressure-sensitive; be sure to use medium to low pressure. For the best results, we suggest sewing your leather patches onto garments.
